Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and a packed house! It was such fun to interact with you, and to hear your stories, your perspectives, and to see such active participation!! As promised, below are some key points from the presentation, in case they are helpful to you. Also, I wanted to address a very good question that came up during a one-on-one interaction I had during the breakout sessions.

There is so much on my to do list at the moment, but occasionally I’ll see something that makes me so worked up, if I don’t say something, I’ll lose it. This is one of those moments. In fact, it was prompted by this week’s People cover story on Heidi Montag. When I saw this, my heart literally ached, and I immediately thought to myself, “…and we lose another young woman to the lie.” I truly believe that Vanity is the evil arch rival of Purpose.

Call me crazy. Call me naïve. But this I believe: no one should have to sit and listen to someone speak for more than 20 minutes (Thank you, TED, for agreeing).   Whenever I see a panel or a keynote scheduled for that magical 50 minute timeslot, I heave a sigh of disappointment.  It makes me feel sad for the presenters, and seems like yet another collective waste of everyone’s time.

Few things make us question our career choices like a really painful PowerPoint presentation.  You know the feeling: at first you attempt earnestly to pay attention.  Then you start to drift off.  Snapping back to reality, you begin to get angry that you’re being forced to endure this experience.
